Understanding warranty coverage is crucial for Luna Innovations customers who depend on our advanced fiber optic equipment. This article explains what the warranty covers, how to determine if your instrument is eligible, and the steps to request service or support.
This guide is a brief summary to help you understand Luna's warranty but is not a legally binding warranty contract. This article is intended as general guidance only and does not modify or replace Luna’s official Terms & Conditions, quotations, or contractual warranty obligations.
Eligibility and Coverage Period
Warranty eligibility requires proof of purchase from Luna Innovations or an authorized channel partner. This can be looked up by Luna's support team when provided with the Serial Number on the instrument. Many Luna fiber optic products include a standard limited warranty period. Warranty duration and terms vary by product and purchase agreement. Certain products may be eligible for optional extended warranty coverage when purchased at the time of sale of the instrument. Any warranty exception or extension must be approved by Luna in writing.
What Does the Warranty Cover?
Luna warrants that, under normal use and service, the Product will meet Luna’s published Specifications. To meet this, the following are typically covered under warranty:
- Defects in materials and workmanship under normal use
- Malfunctions not caused by unauthorized modifications or misuse
- Damage to the instrument incurred during initial shipping from Luna
What Does the Warranty Not Cover?
- Damages caused by unauthorized modifications or misuse
- Damages caused by unauthorized opening of the instrument chassis
- Damage resulting from misuse, mishandling, contamination, improper cleaning, or customer-induced damage, including damage to the front panel optical connector.
What Does the Warranty Provide?
- Luna may, at its discretion, repair or replace defective components or instruments in accordance with the applicable warranty terms.
- After an RMA repair, a ninety (90) day warranty applies only to the specific parts repaired or replaced as part of the RMA service, unless otherwise stated in writing by Luna. If the original factory warranty period remaining on the instrument exceeds ninety (90) days at the time of repair, the remaining original warranty period will continue to apply in accordance with Luna’s standard warranty terms.
