1) Saving files
After taking a measurement, select the icon in the upper left of the screen and select the option Save File.
Specify a filename to save. Use the checkboxes to select whether the Measurement File and/or the TSV Data File should be saved. If you save the measurement file, you can open it later and generate a TSV from the saved data. If you do not save the measurement file, you cannot use the TSV to re-create the measurement file.
The Measurement File contains the measurement data used by the 6225 software to reload and display a measurement.
The TSV (Tab Separated Values) Data File is a plain text file that contains the measurement data in a human readable format. This can be loaded into a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. The file format is designed to be easy for users to parse and process in their own programs.
The TSV file can contain the OFDR (delay domain) data from the 6225 graph, and/or the data from the Event Table. Use the checkboxes to select which elements the file should contain.
2) Exporting files
To export a file to a USB drive, select the icon in the upper left of the screen, and select Export File(s).
Select the file(s) to be exported and Press OK. Wait for the “Exporting file” message to finish before removing the USB drive.
Notes on USB drives:
The 6225 can only read USB drives formatted as FAT32. Drives formatted as NTFS cannot be read or exported to.
Some early 6225 systems had a problem in which USB drives could not be recognized after the 6225 battery was allowed to discharge to a very low power level. If this occurs, USB drives can still be read by connecting a powered USB hub to the 6225. (The problem occurs because the 6225’s USB port is no longer providing power to attached drive. Using a powered hub solves this issue.) This issue can be resolved by installing newer software updates.
