There is presently an issue with the driver file for the desktop OBR and OVA products being blocked by the Windows Driver Policy. "Windows previously trusted drivers signed by the now-expired cross-signed program," which is what the current driver uses. Our team is currently working on an updated version of the driver that will be WHCP-compliant.
If you are not having issues currently with your OBR 4600/4613 or OVA instruments, it is likely that Windows is treating the driver under "Evaluation mode (Audit)" and is not yet blocking it under "Enforcement mode".
Why now?
As stated in the Microsoft bulletin, the April 2026 security update, the Luna driver is no longer one that is trusted by default.
Temporary Fix 1
Windows also has a feature called the Windows Memory Integrity feature. Disabling it may allow the driver to operate as intended if it winds up being blocked by this feature.
To turn it off:
- In the Windows taskbar, go to Windows Security.
- Click on Device Security.
- Click on Core Isolation Details.
- Turn Memory Integrity “Off”.
- Restart your system.
- After the system is booted, in the Windows taskbar, open the Device Manager.
- Under “Universal Serial Bus controllers”, locate your OBR / OVA device, right click and select “Uninstall device”.
- Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to the OBR / OVA.
- Ensure the OBR / OVA is powered on.
- Right-click the “Ez-Usb unknown device” (OBR / OVA) that will appear.

Temporary Fix 2
The above Microsoft article includes a section called, "How do I turn off the Windows Driver Policy?" which may be possible for some users as a workaround while awaiting the publication of a new driver covering these systems. As of this writing we have not been able to directly replicate the issue at our facility and have thus not been able to verify the Microsoft procedure.
Products Affected
This may affect active, legacy, and discontinued products, primarily the OBR 4600 and OVA 5100 product lines, as well as OVA 5000, OBR 4400, and LCA 5000 product lines.
